On November 25, 2009, renowned Chinese climbers Yan Dongdong and Zhou Peng successfully summited Yao Meifeng in Xiaojin County, Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province, China, via the Central South Wall route.
This marked the first time a team comprised entirely of Chinese climbers had established a new route via Alpine climbing, signifying a "milestone" moment in the history of Chinese Alpine climbing. The climbing route was christened "Free Spirit," in honor of the climbing duo.
We, "The Free Spirits," adopt our name to pay homage to climbers worldwide!
